How many residents live at The Women’s College?

We have almost 260 residents who live on-site.

Can I go to universities other than UQ?

Yes! Students can be enrolled at any approved Brisbane-based university (e.g. UQ, QUT, Griffith, ACU).

What is the application process?

Apply online and supply requested documentation. All applicants will then be interviewed either in person or online depending on their location. Applications are now open and places are offered in rounds that are spaced throughout the year. See the Application Information page for more details.

Do you have scholarships and/or bursaries?

Yes, and applications for both bursaries and scholarships open in August. See the Bursaries and Scholarships page for more information.

What is included in your College fees?

Your own room, three meals daily, room cleaning, utilities and wi-fi, academic tutorials, professional development programs and events, wellbeing support, 24/7 security, access to our own gym and tennis courts as well as UQ gym membership, and the opportunity to participate in co-curricular activities (i.e. sports, cultural, community and social activities).

What are the rooms like?

All residents have their own room with plenty of cupboard space, a built-in desk, and a large window overlooking the lovely gardens and grounds of the College.

Is there a curfew and can I have guests?

We are an adult community so there is no curfew, and residents can have guests visit and stay the night. For safety reasons (e.g. emergency evacuations), overnight guests need to be registered, and residents are required to let us know if they will be away from College for a few days.

What does it mean to be an Associate?

Associates are local Brisbane students who want to benefit from the connections and opportunities of being part of a College without accommodation. Associates can take part in all Women’s College social, academic and development activities, join the residents for lunch in the Dining Hall every weekday, and also live in College during Orientation Week in their first year. Although Associates are not able to compete in the Inter-Collegiate Council (ICC) Sporting and Cultural competitions, they are encouraged to participate as spectators to cheer on their fellow Women’s College students. Associates also go through an application and interview process.

Is it fun?

Yes! College can be as busy or as quiet as you want it to be. We try to make sure we cater to every person at College. There is always something to do and someone to talk to.
