Student Club

As a resident or associate at Women’s, you automatically become a member of the Student Club. It’s here where you will truly discover what it means to be a Wooza and become part of the history and tradition of this remarkable College. This is where the fun begins! Being part of the College’s active Student Club is a great way to develop leadership skills and community spirit, and it is one of the best ways to get the most out of your College experience.

Student Club Executive

Led by the Student Club President, the 12 members of the Student Club Executive are elected by the student body. Under the governance of a student-drafted Constitution, the Student Club Executive organises a variety of social, community, cultural and sporting activities throughout the year, including the O Week program.

The Student Club nominates students to compete for the ICC Sport Shield and ICC Cultural Trophy. The Student Club organises social events like Women’s@Home and Woozalympics in Semester 1 and the Women’s Ball in Semester 2. There are also informal weekly events with other UQ residential colleges to enjoy.

The Student Club also coordinates community service and fundraising events for various charities in line with the College’s motto: Capimus ut dividamus – We take that we may share.

Resident Assistants

Resident Assistants (RAs) are appointed by the College to provide pastoral care, guidance, and practical support to residents within their wings. As trusted peer leaders, RAs play a vital role in fostering a safe, inclusive and supportive living environment where students feel known, valued, and supported throughout their time at Women’s.

RAs are often the first point of contact for wellbeing support, offering a listening ear, practical advice, and connections to College and university support services when needed. Through regular check-ins, community-building activities, and day-to-day presence within the wings, RAs help residents navigate the academic, social, and personal challenges that can arise during College life. They also work closely with College staff to uphold community standards, promote respectful living, and respond compassionately to concerns as they arise.

Like the Student Club Executive, the RA role is a significant leadership opportunity for returning students in their second or third year of College. It develops strong interpersonal, communication, and leadership skills, while allowing students to make a meaningful contribution to the wellbeing of their peers.

A unified Student Leadership Team

Together, the Student Club Executive and Resident Assistants form Women’s Student Leadership Team, united by a shared vision of community, wellbeing, and student engagement. While the Student Club Executive focuses on student advocacy, events, and community life across the College, RAs provide vital pastoral care and support at the wing level. Through collaboration, shared values, and mutual respect, these two leadership groups work in partnership to enrich the student experience and uphold the spirit, traditions, and values of Women’s College.

Women’s – more than just a place to stay

Centred on equity, Women’s is a place where women support women. The diversity, talents and personalities of almost 260 residents and 50 non-resident associates who call the College ‘home’ are celebrated and appreciated.
